New dates for Mental Health First Aid training sessions

Study or work notesBirmingham & Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust’s BSMHFT (Community Engagement Team have announced the next series of Mental Health First Aid training sessions.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help a person who may be developing a mental health issue. In the same way as we learn physical first aid, MHFA teaches you how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health.

Dates Costs & Venue:

  • 7th – 8th February 2017
  • 13th – 14th March 2017
  • 12th – 13th April 2017

Costs – £150 (Concessions available for service users and carers)

Taking place at The MAC, Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham B12 9QH

Mental Health First AidWhat is Mental Health First Aid?

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a 2 day training course with the aim to enable people to:

  • Spot the early signs of a mental health problem
  • Feel confident helping someone experiencing a problem
  • Provide help on a first aid basis
  • Help prevent someone from hurting themselves or others
  • Help stop a mental illness from getting worse
  • Help someone recover faster
  • Guide someone towards the right support
  • Reduce the stigma of mental health problems
